Makarori barrier consultation proposed
27 Mar 11

It looks like the uproar over the controversial barrier has paid dividends. A consultation process is planned to begin this week.

Members of Gisborne City Council and New Zealand Transport Agency are said to want to talk to surfers next week to begin a consultation and dialogue process.

A new viewing platform near the top of the hill, with a walkway down to the beach, extensive landscaping and a picnic area between the two main carparks are among the plans suggestions.

If you want to contribute contact Gisborne City Council and keep an eye on the facebook pages that surfers have set up to debate the issues.
