Cobden Beach Petition View Full Details
Submitter: webmaster
Released:   Sun, 27-Apr-2008

The consent for the sand mining trail allows the company to collect sand and minerals off Cobden Beach, and to stockpile 2200 tonnes of sand. The regional council did not publicly notify the application, and the only affected party to object was Kahuna Boardriders, who are now appealing the decision through the Environment Court.

Surfers and residents are discussing ways of raising funds to aid the Environment Court appeal. Cobden residents are selling raffles, holding a combined garage sale and selling bumper stickers to fund the appeal, which could cost $20,000

please help by signing this petition and either mailing to:

If you think the local break might be at risk, plug in to our SPS Issue Assessment tool. This is a questionnaire that provides a reliable way of assessing whether or not your favourite spot is threatened.

Download it from our website and get a group together to work through it ñ it will both provide an objective evaluation of the risk - plus, through the discussions along the way, bring together the core of your local action group should it be needed. Another way of SPS providing national support for local actioní.
